When many of our recent buyers asked if we knew how to contact the original maker of this unusual Tarot design, we decided to try and seek him out. From one of his more devoted customers we discovered that Endré had been offering tarot cards and wooden board games at divination shows and renaissance fairs for several years. We finally caught up with Endré and have convinced him to work with us so that he can offer his rare Tarot decks to a wider audience.

Endré is a truly gentle and gifted man. You can see his kind spirit in the tools he creates. His cards have inspired many people over the years. Being one of the few people trained at making this all-wood style of tarot, Endré's cards are destined to remain in demand with serious collectors for many years to come.

This is an original Wooden Tarot Deck fashioned by a true old world artisan and based on the artwork of the Mother Goose Illustrations from the 1910's. Each item is painstakingly made by hand. No two are ever exactly alike. In the past, even used decks of this style received considerable interest from tarot enthusiasts. However, this Limited Edition deck is from a series of only 100 and is offered here brand new and unused. This deck comes directly from the maker with a matching Mother Goose-themed box and a Certificate of Authenticity.

As you look through the cards of this deck, you may notice the spooky similarity between the Nursery Rhymes we all grew up with and the major arcana of the tarot. The rhymes of this deck are the old style rhymes that are somewhat different than the ones I remember. For example, you may notice with the rhymes listed below the lyrics are slightly different than the ones you grew up with:

THE TOWER
Lady Bird, Lady Bird
Fly Away Home.
Your House is on Fire.
Your Children will burn.

THE WORLD
This pig when to market.
That pig stayed at home;
This pig had roast meat.
That pig had none;
This pig went to the barn door.
And cried week week for more.

The hidden meaning behind Nursery Rhymes is hotly debated among historians. The title ' Mother Goose ' and most Nursery Rhymes we know of today are thought to have originated as far back as the 16th century. The witch hunters of the times are thought to have assigned the name 'Mother Goose' to witches. The animals prevalent in the various rhymes were thought to be witch familiars. Many Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes reflected the historical events that were taking place at the time. Nursery Rhymes were also used to spread subversive messages and allow the common people to communicate encoded messages that could have gotten them killed if they spoke directly.

A similar sense of fear was experienced by psychics and fortune tellers of the time. In fact fortune tellers were commonly assumed to be witches themselves. The fact that psychics would further encode their divination tools with so-called "innocent" Nursery Rhymes comes as no surprise.
